History...

Warren Street Social & Athletic Club was started over 20 years ago by Hugh Sweeny, Alan Silber and Paul Fetscher.  They wanted a racing club that was a little more on the edge than some of the other main street running clubs of the time.  The first sponsor was Shannon's Bar in Jersey city.  Needless to say, beer was an important post-race (and sometimes pre-race) supplement for the team members.  Sweeny one of the founders lived on Warren Street in Jersey City, thus the name.

Warren street quickly grew to be one of the fastest regional running clubs, winning both men's and women's titles locally and nationally under of the tutelage of Tracy Sundlun (Mr. Rock & Roll Marathon).

Khalid Khannouchi (past  marathon World Record Holder) ran for Warren Street  before moving to New Balance , ,

Rick Pascarella has run with Warren Street since the late 1970's and has been coaching since 1985.  Rick was very active with the USATF and is the MAC President Emeritus.  He coached the 1997 USA National Ekiden Team in Chiba Japan, and others at international competitions in London & Paris.

We continue to successfully compete in the NY Road Runners Club Championship Series as well as USATF's Grand Prix, saving a little time for festivities and club gatherings. Remember the "Social" in our full name comes before the AC.
